Believe me, I know they are expensive. Fortunately, my wife does not complain when I buy coins and such, it keeps me distracted from what she spends on clothes and shoes. I pre-ordered the new 1701-1800 Krause coming out in Dec. and bought the 5th ed. of the 1801-1900 this month, so that's either good news or very bad news depending on how you look at it.

In June(@ Baltimore show) I picked up 35th ed 1901-2000, 5th ed 1801-1900 and the 13th ed of Paper money modern issue. And then yesterday on Amazon I ordered the 11th ed of paper money general issue, 2nd ed of 2001-date and the 10th ed of paper money specialized issues for $14.85. I had some Amazon gift cert from taking surveys online:)
