I just got from the ANA show in Chicago. This was my first time going. The only thing I bought were these 2 because pretty much that was all I could afford. I think I only saw 3 or 4 dealers who's cases had coins in 2 X 2's and were not completely filled of high dollar top shelf MS coins. There were even a couple of dealers who had 3 cases and only had 3 coins in them because they were so rare. Any coin that you hear is rare just go tot he show and you will see 5-0 of them. One dealer had a whole case full of 1925 Norse Expo memorabilia including 30 slabbed silvers, a slabbed off metal test strike, and 2 GOLD. Another dealer has 12 of the counterstamped and numbered Stone Mountain halves. And I must have seen 8-10 Spanish Trail haves in MS64 to MS66. I was lucky to score these 2 for $20 less each than they sell for on the low side on ebay.

Lovely selections that I am hopeful are a part of your growing MS silver commemorative set.
Both coins appear by photo to be accurate in grade and exhibit fine eye appeal.
Please tell us what is next for your set ... and how we can offer any support to a fellow collector.

Next will be Connecticut and Bridgeport as I really like the art deco eagles on them.
I want a Gettysburg and a Spanish trail but those are way out of my budget.
As for advice or support I would say as others have "Buy the coin, not the holder"
I found maybe 10 MS65 Cleveland's for sale. Of the white coins there were maybe 4. Prices ranged from $115 that I paid up to $150. I almost bought one but after looking closely under a loupe there were 2 very micro green PVC spots on the obverse. The coin looked good in hand with good luster to the naked eye and had a clean and accurate grade but had flaws which if I had not seen the coin in hand and had bought online I may have gotten shortchanged.
Oh and don't buy the first coin you see even if it is "rare"

Nice coins! Congrats on the purchases! The ANA show definitely brings out the market's high-end material. It's the place to go to find the items you almost never see at smaller shows. Due to family obligations, I was unable to attend this year - I certainly wish I had been able to go! I'm a bit "jealous" of you getting to see all that nice commemorative material!

Nice acquisitions. Quote: I think I only saw 3 or 4 dealers who's cases had coins in 2 X 2's and were not completely filled of high dollar top shelf MS coins. That would limit my shopping, too.

I would have liked to have seen the gold Norse. 12 counterstamped Stone Mountains in one place must have been a sight to see.

Nice coins. The Cleveland in on my want list. I have the CT and Bridgeport for the very reason you mention. Well, I like the tree on the CT but the eagles are why I got both.

WOW... Beautiful coins.
I would like to start collecting the pre-modern commemoratives. I do not have all the moderns, but I have collected the ones I have wanted.
What was your first pre-modern commem you collected?
