Just had word of this sent to me early last night by my pal and ANA governor Michael Ellis and now officially confirmed:

http://www.money.org/blog/Sales-Hal...ennedy-Coins

I think it's a good thing, he said it was out of control. The TPG's have created a market of greed by having these first strike/first day of issue labels. These coins won't be worth it in the long run, I'd bet on it. how many will go into circulation? NONE. In 50 years every one of them will be high grade and saved in the condition like the day it was created.

My 2¢ on it.

Let the ANA show get back to basics of educating, trading, exhibiting, and spreading fellowship among coin, currency, token, medal, collectors again.

Anyone wanting a Kennedy coin can still order them from the mint, there is, so far, no mintage limit. The Mint has said they will have over 100K struck in gold by October for sale.

P.S. Saw this was posted in the thread below about sales starting on Aug 5. THought I'd leave the post here for anyone that didn't know reading in the morning after you woke up.

Article was in Coin News yesterday. They are planning to mint 6,000/week with a goal of 75k by October 1st. No mention if this is a final number or just a time goal.

edited to add:

It does sound like it is NOT a final number:

The United States Mint indicated that they have all of the necessary raw materials to initially produce up to 75,000 of the gold half dollars. The Mint will continue to procure additional raw materials in order to fulfill all demand for the product.
