How are all of you able to get such good pics uploaded? I've been trying with a magnifying glass and camera but I cant get the lighting right or it isn't clear at all, is there a secret or do I need special equipment?

I moved your question to the photography section to get a specific audience and to point to where to look for tips and techniques.

A magnifying glass and camera can give you decent higher magnification shots but will be tough to get right for full-coin shots. Most magnifying glasses are pretty poor quality and introduce a lot of distortion and aberrations. Are you trying to do high mag shots like varieties or full-coin shots? What camera are you using?...Ray

Ray, thanks for the response, my post was moved so I didn't know how to check out the replies, sorry still learning this sight. Yes, I am trying to get photos of my full coins because I have a TON of questions on errors I have been collecting trying to figure out how to get an expert opinion on if I have anything worth while or not.

Check out this photography section. Folks are even getting good photos with their iPhones.

For me I already liked photography so I had a dSLR already. I probably went overboard, but I got a macro lens.

The basics are keeping the camera still on a tripod or other stand. You can use the timer or remote to take the photo. Lighting is probably the most important. Diffused controlled lighting over the top of the coin, in an otherwise dark room, works best. I got the IKEA lights recommended here (they are not expensive). The coin should be flat relative to the camera lens. Then after crop the photo so the coin occupies most of the photo, and adjust the color to compensate for the white balance, if needed.
