I love searching nickels but am getting super upset with trying to finish my folder I only need 7 more and those are 1938d,s 1939d,s 1950d 1951s and 1955. I just wanna here some of your guesses on how many rolls you think it will take to find them. Also would like to know how many it took you. Maybe if you guess the number or are closest you will win a prize. Hopefully I dont get in trouble for that haha. So guess away, wish me luck, and happy hunting'! When I find one I will update this thread.

1938-D will be fairly difficult to find as less than 6 million were made, though stuff like that does happen (I found a 1910-S wheatie, only 6 million made). Hope you're on the West Coast, because finding these in rolls will be a lot easier as it seems you need almost only D's and S's. 1938-S is even more rare with about 4 million.
Your best chances are with the 1951-S, and 1955. Only 2.6 million 1950-D nickels were minted, so that'll be the hardest to get. Getting to the point, my guess would be that it would take A LOT of boxes/roll searching to find -any- of the coins you mentioned. Wish you all the luck, though!

I need those same coins for my folder. Some of those low mintage nickels will be difficult to find, and honestly I would just purchase those coins.

I consider there to be about 10 key dates and you're looking for the lowest mintage 7, so it's not as though you're just getting unlucky. How many rolls have you gone through already? Have you found all the war nickles?

I lucked out and found '38D,S and '39S in a single box--around my tenth one if memory serves. 1950-D was around box 15-20. I found a 51-S in change, plus a couple more in boxes but I forget when. 1955 was one of the last ones; around box 25. Never did find the '39D and I'm still missing a few War Nickels. '52-S was the last hole filled in my book, thanks to a dumped collection in a CWR. Haven't had the time as of late to pick up the hobby again.
