WOW. This one developed horrible spots in just in the last few weeks. I presume I should return to PCGS, or should I contact CAC and sell to them?

It went from some light hardly visible toning in the areas affected, to now what is ugly black splotches -- looks worse than my picture.

This coin was purchased 2 years ago or so. The CAC is about 1 year old.

Not sure of the cause but I'd return it to PCGS.

I just read an article about dipping and improper rinsing . The article said dark toning will appear after time.

Dipped, improperly rinsed and dried. It takes a few years for the spotting to start but it will only get worse over time.

Returning it to PCGS will cost you a regrade fee and an eventual downgrade...

NGC (NCS) conservation has a chance of getting the coin back to its original appearance.

Either way your CAC will be toast but a possibility after conservation.

I recently sent a coin to PCGS that also developed spots. PCGS "fixed" it and returned in new holder with same grade. I presume this will be the case if I send to PCGS.

PCGS may or may not do anything about it. Their guarantee does not cover coins that turn in the holder after slabbing. neither does NGC's.
