Went to my lcs today and saw that they had a new (to me) album for the Lincoln Cents from the onset o the wheats to the shield coins.

The unusual thing about the album is that it is a sort of a type set just for Lincoln sets and you need only 44 cents to complete the project.

I got two albums and because of the small number of coins you can really stock it with some outstanding coins.

Sometime within the next couple of weeks I plan on populating the album with some real good examples.

Sort of a poor man's type set.

I thought that I had put a full description of the album in the opening post but in review I didn't. Anyway here goes:

From Whitman Publishing and entitled Abraham Lincoln Cents from Birth to BiCentennial and beyond 1909 - 2010.

To give an idea of this type set there are only 5 coins used to represent the "Lincoln Memorial Bronze , 1950 to 1962". The coins are Philadelphia and Denver Mint Obverse, Reverse, Proof Obverse and Reverse. And that is it for the entire period of '50 - 62. Similar quantity and description for the period of '62 - '82.

As I said, a type set for the Lincoln cents.

It also has a short bibliography of the history of the coins. To me it has the possibility of becoming a nice set with a minimum of coins. Most of these coins you may have already in your stash.

I have the same album. It is probably geared more towards kids but I have enjoyed finding nice examples for some of the common slots.

Almost sounds more like a Folder than an Album. Remember there is a lot of difference between a Folder and an Album.

Sadly that seems to be exactly what it is from the description given to the list of holes on Whitman's site (had to search bicentennial to find it.)

https://www.whitman.com/store/Inven...-+0794826806

I think I saw this in a store, laughed at it and walked away from it. Half will be impossible to fill unless you buy mint sets and open them to just fill these holes. Also it seems they forgot how to make holes for coins. there is a single hole for the 2009 Obverse, and then PDS of each of the 4. You need a hole for each REVERSE to see the actual 4 designs, then the obverse to see the PD or S.

I really think Warman's does better job at this sort of "celebration" set type thing in choosing what spaces to have in their folders.

Sadly neither have figured out how to make what people want, things like Lincoln 1959-1982 for a non-wheat copper series set. Why am I even awake at this hour? Good luck filling the thing.
