Hi. I found this 1968 s Lincoln Cent that looks totally different from the other ones. Is this a error? I don't under stand why everything is smashed around the edges. I thought the word "GOD" was "GOO" so I took a second look. Any input would be very helpful. Thank you.

It looks like your coin has rim damage from being broken out of a lucky coin holder.

Its just Damage sorry. Look at the rim of the coin and you can see it took a beating in that area. Just put 2 and 2 together is all.

The design was changed in 1969 because the master hubs were wearing outward. Thus the reason the dies were looking that year. Some are not as bad and others are worse. Die wear is also affecting this toward the outside rim areas.
