Looks to me to be a Large Date but I am not a 100% for sure. I am fairly new to looking at coins.

Was trying to get some help on this one. I can try to take a better picture if need be.

large date... be careful of ebay. a lot of large dates being sold as small dates, either on purpose or not.

Coop's pics have saved me on numerous occasions, I'm still looking for a small date but I think they are very hard to find in the wild anymore.
Note: I was born and raised in Southern California myself...

My instructor told me he has search over a million+ coins and has never found them in the wild. I've never found one in the wild either. But he said he found some in OBW rolls though.

While I Too have NOT found any Small Date 1970-S coins in the loose wild, I have spotted more than a few 1970-S Proof and Mint sets listed as a " plain set " on the bay or Tele T and with a careful eye and a little luck have received some Small Dated Proof and Mint Sets!! :) Research, research, research...... Always on a small date Cent coin, the date 1970-S Cent will Always have both ends of the 9, pointed. Always.......
