Hello everyone. I plan on attending the 2015 fun show in January. I've never been to a coin show, and also never been to Florida either.

I have a few questions. First, I've booked a hotel for all 4 days of the show. Are there enough dealers/exhibitors to last all 4 days, or will I see everything worth seeing in 1 or 2 days and then be bored? Second, are credit/debit cards accepted? Are there atms at the convention center? What about secure storage of purchases? Do NGC and PCGS attend and will they be accepting submissions? Will I need to rent a car, or are most restaurants and sights walking distance (I'll be just under a mile from the convention center).

If I do rent a car, how long of a drive is it from Orlando to Tampa (there are some sights in Tampa I might want to see)?

Any advice for fun show newbies? Thanks.

If you haven't already seen it, here is the F.U.N. site about the show:
http://www.funtopics.com/fun-convention.html

There are lots of dealers, some displays, conferences, meetings, and classes, so you can always find something to do.

EDIT - trip from Orlando to Tampa is about 1 hour 15 minutes one way.

gothboi30, to the CCF. Fuzzy317 attached the link to the FUN show site. There is currently a lot of information available about the show on their site, and they will post more in the future. Now to answer some of your questions...

Between the show dealers and the seminars that will be held, there is enough to do for 4 days... if you want to. I love the show, but after 2-3 days am ready to do something else (just due to coin overload). The convention center is located on International Drive which has tons of restaurants and other stuff to do.

Never really looked for lockers, but I'm sure there are some there...

There are ATMs at the convention center, and I'm sure there will be one at your hotel, or shopping centers/banks in the area. You can go to the convention center website and see if they have information about those things.

Yes, NGC & PCGS will be there in addition to several of the other TPGs. They will accept submissions, but I do know that NGC requires a membership fee.

If you rent a car, you should hit some of the other attractions in Orlando, maybe Disney, Universal Studios, or Sea World. They're all fun to do. Tamp is also a great place to visit. You'd have to decide where to go & what to do as they're personal preferences.

As a newbie who's never been to a coin show, you're going to be amazed at the sheer size of the show. There were over 650 dealers there last year. The FUN site will list all of the dealers who will be in attendance and where they're located. I personally would go to the dealers you know you'll want to see first, then work your way around the rest of the show. I promise it'll be an experience you won't forget.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

As Dave said , you WILL be amazed being it's your first coin show.

I got to meet Dave at the Summer FUN show this year and I'll bet he'd tell you I looked like a deer in the head lights when I was there. I was OVERWELMED to say the least.

My wife and I went 2 of the 3 days and had a Great time and WILL be at the 2015 FUN show this year if all goes well!

This one is supposed to be 2 to 3 x's the size of the Winter show and I couldn't get to every area I want AND go to the seminars I wanted to because there is just not enough time.

It reminds me of trying to take in the amusement parks in 1 day, I don't think it can be done.

I WOULD recommend to take a bag lunch unless you want to pay 6-8 dollars for a pretzel and a pop though. And some water. the food venues are EXPENSIVE! (IMHO).

Anyway, I hope you have a great time and maybe we can meet up and put some faces to some names.

Dar is right about the food being expensive. One other piece of advice is to write down table numbers of the dealers that had something you were interested in. Going back later can be difficult

... and taking a tip from fromms2244, before I got to the show, I had a list of dealers that I wanted to see. Closer to the actual F.U.N. show, the site I linked above will have a floor layout of where the dealers will be located.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Please keep them coming!! I have decided to specialize in Barber coins, and will soon be joining the Barber Coin Collectors' Society (BCCS). Hopefully, they will be attending this show, and will hold a meeting too!! Now I just have to see what the seminars will be, and how much they will cost to attend. Also, gotta try to save some spending $ (secretly hoping I can save around $1k but not sure about that.....). Now for popcorn smiley while we wait...

Also, you can get a 'FUN book/pamphlet' with a map when you get there with all the dealer table's numbered.
I didn't do it last time but I am going to write who is at what table and make notes for myself if I have to stop back by to Buy OR just X it off the list.
I think I can save some time this time.

I know this thing is still months away but I am excited. I will be there for the first 2 days. I have to look forward to this show because I don't have a shop near me and only a couple of pawn shops with coins. Is the CCF going to be there again?
