Good Day,

Found this 1980 1 Cent is different from other colour yellowish cent at the bottom.

Is this just a toning or struck on other composition?

Help please and thanks in advance!

They all change a little different in time depending where they were kept, if they were cleaned...etc... I don't recall any mint mistakes with the metal they used to make them so I would say it's just toning. I have one cent that is one color on one side and another color on the other side. It was on the bottom of a roll, so one side was out in the air. It's good to ask though, they do make some coins differently and there are mistakes.

I think it may be the result of improper alloy mix, to much zinc or tin mixed into the copper will give it a yellow or brassy color.

Toning... some years turn yellow easier than others...

That said... be on the lookout for yellow 1-cent coins dated after 1995... they were sometimes struck on two-dollar cores...

Good link nice error SPP. It looks over graded though, I think it has "surface film doubling" as the dime sized planchet expanded in the penny sized collar. just my opinion
