I remember seeing the coins at the Smithsonian made my imagination reel with wonder and amazement when I was a kid. For sure this was the greatest collection I've ever seen. Didn't see it all. That was impossible to do.

This is the most amazing collection I know of. Read the whole thread. It's what happens when a normal guy sets a goal for himself.

And he has 3 of those sets. Truly amazing. For me, the most amazing set is the Sunnywood/Simpson collection of toned Morgans. But I know these guys weren't "regular" collectors.

This one is probably too obvious of a choice but I got a chance to see part of the D. Brent Pogue collection at the Portland Money Show. Hands down the most amazing collection I've ever seen and probably ever will see. It's off the charts.

Here's a link to the first group of coins going on the auction block in May. There will be future groups coming up over the next couple of years

Some of my favorites from this first grouping

Seeing these coins up close and personal was a very humbling experience. I'm pretty sure my jaw actually dropped open.

So yeah, I'd have to say it's the most amazing collection I've ever seen.

That thread was about the completion of his fourth full Morgan set, actually. When he first registered here 9 years ago he didn't know much about Morgans and only had a few. Quietly and intelligently he learned what he needed to know about Morgans, decided what he wanted and pursued the goal, sharing every step here at Coin Community. It's the greatest collection I've had the pleasure of watching develop here.
