So was this too good to be true? It sure felt that way when I found it, and even knowing the risk of counterfeits I'd seen enough half-destroyed examples on the market that I couldn't pass this one up. A Trade dollar with trace luster and smooth surfaces except for two clean chop marks.   |

Nice AU-55 Trade dollar, I don't see any red flags. Those with chops always appealed to me as they actually circulated in the orient. |

I feel the same way, but I also don't like when there are so many chop marks that they're defacing the devices. I have one other in the bank that I would share, but I don't have a picture of it. This was an upgrade, because that one is scratched with a pretty rough surface. I wouldn't go so far as to say I collect chop marked dollars, but I do look occasionally. :)

Nothing wrong with this one. A nice example of a slightly-circulated Trade dollar with a clear provenance that doesn't destroy the coin's appearance. I'd be pretty happy with it.  |

Having Chop Marks makes this, (at least to me), a very desirable Trade dollar. And, for once, the chops don't smash out the details of the reverse. Bonus!  |

Nice jimbucks, thanks for sharing those. I think I like the -001 one best, because it looks original. Shame that the chop goes right through Liberty's face though.
