Poll Question
I guess this belongs here since most people fill albums with coins found in rolls.

What do you do with albums or maps you filled with coins?

Poll Choices
 Keep them for the collection.
 Sell them to the 'Bay.
 Give to friends or family.

It is normal for a collector of anything, when a set or series is completed to keep his efforts.

I have my albums and usually seconds. Other albums are given away to friends and family. Why not promote the hobby?

Well, if it's specifically for a friend it could be given away (I know I personally once assembled a coin set as a gift for a distant relative; turned out she wasn't particularly interested in coins, and she gave them back to me at first opportunity, after about a year).
But normally, I can't really understand why would one do anything but keep unless it's really on the cheap and the purpose is to sell the coins for profit; in which case it's still probably easier and better to keep an album for the best found examples and sell off only lesser-quality duplicates - in case one of the coins you found ends up the only example you ever see anywhere near that cheaply.

OTOH, since I personally put coins in ziplocs, I guess if I wanted to assemble an album it would probably have been for another person, so I would then give it away

FloridaS, not sure how long you have been collecting.
Most collectors keep their completed albums and try to up grade their coins with a higher grade. The 7070 Dansco album, that a lot of members here at CCF are working on, is a favorite. We are talking, "big buck" depending upon the collectors desire for a high graded coin.
Then you can add the extra "Gold Page" "Oh My"
Whether you are filling a Cent, Nickel, Dime etc. album go for your best graded coin you can afford.
Then I would pass them on to your deserving people that know about coins.IMHO

Well I figured a lot of people kept them, but on ebay there are thousands of finished albums and I didn't understand why so I was hoping someone here sold them and could explain why.

Many of them are coin dealers that sell coins for a living, and some are collectors that need to sell off their collections to help fund a new collection, medical fees, college, a new house, etc. Some collectors sell off completed albums they don't need for a profit. I'd guess that selling collections at times is a part of the hobby that many numismatists experience.
