Does anyone know if you can stop payment on your cc/debit card for an ebay purchase? Weeks ago, I received a package with the contents removed. The seller did nothing to help and dragged his feet with the claim. Under the advise of an ebay rep, I escalated the claim. ebay closed the case because I supplied them with an incorrect phone number. I assumed from the beggining ebay wouldnt help as they are worthless. The seller now thinks because ebay did this, he is no longer responsible to make good with me. He prob is keeping the money. I told him that just because ebay closed the case it doesn't mean anything. The claim is still open as far as the US PS is concerned and it was insured.
I remember when I made the purchase, the money was withdrawn from my account as I had a new paypal account with nothing in it. I was tginking of asking the bank to stop/recover the money as its fraud. Any suggestions? I am having nothing but bad luck!

Your probably out of luck since they couldn't contact you. If they can't get in touch with one of the parties they will always rule in favor of the other. Also, it's not fraud unless the seller sent you an empty package on purpose and you can prove it.

1). Call ebay customer service and appeal the decision that closed the case

Or

2. File a BBB complaint against ebay AND Paypal in their district in San Jose. You can do it online.

Or

3. If you funded the payment with a credit card contact your credit card company and start the chargeback process

Or

4. Let it go and quit buying high dollar stuff online from questionable sellers.

Not to discourage you but ebay will do nothing in your favor so will see what your bank rep can do. Good luck.

You can ABSOLUTELY file a dispute with your credit card company. You paid for a coin that you never received. How are you responsible for paying for it?

So ebay closed the case and decided against me and in the sellers favor. There reason was I supplied them with the wrong number for the police dept. I called ebay and said "no one could have googled the correct number". So I asked to file an appeal. I am also contacting the coorperate office. I alreasy filed a chargeback with my cc, but I will only get $650 of the purchase as the rest was taken out of paypal. I didnt know I had any money in there. I know the seller filed an insurance claim. I contacted him and he said ebay sided with him and he is not obligated to give me anything. So he has my money and the insurance money. Hiw is that fair? I should have my attorney send him a letter. What should I do?

Jun jun you are right. And I told the rep that. ebay never helps, just causes more problems. By their decision, they gave the seller the right to stop talking with menand keeping the claim money. So he got double the money for the coin

Contact his post office and tell them he was refunded by ebay. The postmaster should be eager to hear your story. See if he can wiggle out of fraud with the USPS.

Pawns, great idea. I'm googling phone number now. That would be fraud right?

If he gets refunded from ebay and still files an insurance claim? You bet it is, all day long. Fraud is all about intent.

"I think I need to put a big yellow sticky note on my computer. "NEVER KEEP A PAYPAL BALANCE."

I do this now, myself, when ready to buy - THEN I supply my c.c. info, wait for sale to go through, then delete that info.
I got burned on a sale that soured me to this process & learned my lesson. ebay sided w/the buyer & I was only out the item (under $100) - so I consider myself somewhat lucky. It still hurts though when you have 100% feedback score . . .
