I found this 1979 in a box tonight and at first I thought it was a casino coin with the reeded edge peened off but the obverse nickel layer still showed some reeding and had a lip to it compared to the copper layer.
I was still thinking PMD as I found this crazy 1976 that noone could figure out a while ago.
PSD (post-strike damage). The edge of the area in question was smashed inward causing the reeding to be partially smoothed and the peripheral design of the reverse to be forced upwards.
