Wow, other than the typical 1888-O weaker strike I think this might just go MS66, the pop at PCGS is just 249 coins at MS66 so it's more likely this is a MS65 with almost 2000 MS65 graded, but nerveless I think it's worthy of at least a MS65 grade and a CAC gold bean!

Beautiful color beginning to show around the edges. Nary a mark on the face or fields. One Heck of a nice dollar!

"The 1888 O - Average strike, though many are weak", per James L. Halprin co-founder of Heritage Auctions and grading expert.

I also agree this is a tough date and mintmark combo to find really well struck up in higher uncirculated grades. The weaker strike (though common on 1888-O) may keep this one back a point.

chasingtailbar I'm over this dollar.

There is a huge pricing difference from MS64 @ $95 - MS65 @ $625 - MS66 @ $2300 so if it's sitting in a MS64 holder it needs to go back until it's in at least a MS65 holder IMO!

It looks as good or better than most 65's for this date/mm. Heck, it even looks better than some of the 66's.
