I went to sampleslabs.com and this is an early ANACS slab in the area of 1, 1.1, or 2, from the late '89 or '90. My question is: The early slabs have ANACS typed on the label. This one doesn't. Can anybody offer an explanation? Thanks. Ed

SampleSlabs is correct. Yours is an exact match - remember Cameron numbered them based on the coin inside, not just the generation of slab. SampleSlab #s are valid only for Sample.

FYI - After the move to Colorado Springs, ANACS started slabbing and the 2 letter + 4 numbers were used as the serial number - you can translate that to a numeric value and look up the certification today. What isn't known is which pairs of letters came first.

Then ANACS was sold to Amos Press and they changed the hologram on the back to the "A" and the embossed feature from the ANA Lamp of Knowledge to an "A"

Comes up as this exact coin in ANACS cert verification system too. A real early slabbed ANACS coins too.

That is the first generation that ANACS used when they switched from photocertificates to slabs. It is also the only slab issued while ANACS was owned by the ANA. They began in late 1989. ANA sold ANACS to Amos Press in Feb of 1990 and the slabs changed around mid 1990.

That enough information?
