Any methods/tricks to specifically get those halves rolls from the banks. Because I have been asking for them from all the bank that I went to and none have them, either that or they have the post 1964 halves. What kind of bank should we go to (Big one: Bank of America, Washington Mutual, Well Fargo...; Credit Union banks; or local, small banks)?
Thanks
I have no problem at all getting as many rolls of halves as I want. The trick is like anything else. You have to be known. Many, many banks I've been to have them but since not a big demand item they are usually in the vault. For a stranger to just walk in and request them means they have to lock up everything, put things aside, if not authorized, contact a person that is authorized to go to the vault for those halves.
I make sure I go to several banks, have a small savings account in each, say things in to tellers so they remember you such as Hi, having a nice day or wow is the weather outside horrible. Anything so your are remembered as a regular customer. I also attempt to go to these banks at off hours, not during lunch, on Fridays or Mondays. These are generally pay days or people need money so they are usually more busy and a walk to the vault is not recommended. One teller told me they were instructed that if someone wants something special, and you don't know them or are real busy, jsut say we don't have any. I myself hate to hold up a bunch of people when they do go to the vault for me but I always end up with 4 to 10 rolls if I want them. Large
Ike dollars are usually by a waiting list of relatives. Odd looking coins that are old or just weird looking like an off set is also usually put aside for relatives.
I would suggest you go to a few banks very often prior to asking for anything special or date or marry a bank teller.
If you marry a bank teller, you may acquire a lot of great coins but also, you may have to use them in a divorse settlement.
