Wheatchaser gave me this idea because I was curious in what I've found over the past 12 years of searching coins. These are coins from the banks and stores. And I'm actually quite surprised in what I've found.
Wheats: I've found every year from 1909-1958 except 1922. Two 1909 RDVs, numerous teen Ds and S, complete set from 1934-1958 except 1943 S. I've found over 6500 wheats over the years.
I do agree with wheat chaser though wheat cents have dried up a lot then what it was 7 years ago though. I remember getting a box of cents and anything less than 50 wheats a box was considered a bad box to me. So six years ago I decided to search for errors and die varieties to keep me into hobby. Learning about errors and die varieties was a whole new ball game to me. It was so much to learn and still learning but understand them a great deal now.
I will say it saddens me of the people giving up on the hobby as of lately. I will never give up on the hobby for all wheats goes to my kids (2) and errors and die varieties I don't want goes to my kids also. I only have about 30 coins to my collection and my kids have about 20000 to theirs. I have it a bit rough financially and cant save a lot of money for my kids for college and future. So I thought I could do that through coins. Its easy to save a few hundred pennies a month worth 500 dollars or more than to actually save 500 a month.
