I'd pass on both of them. You can definately get better coins for $125 a piece.

Pass. Thats too high, if I were going to spend $125 on either one they better be in better condition than Fine. You should be able to get AU for the '31-S and at least a VF for the '09-S. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Dealer says this is Grey Sheet prices. He's always been an honest guy. I don't have a Grey Sheet to check if what he says is accurate.

It can't hurt to look around. I'm sure you can find higher grade cents for the same amount.

"Bid" is dealer buy price & "ask" is dealer sell price?

My impression of the "bid" price, and the "buy" prices are like ebay, and the "bid, and 'buy it now" pricing. I am not familiar with the dealers way of selling, other than if I see something I want, I ask how much, and if the price is right, I pay, and go. If not, I leave it. No haggling. I have not bought any "premium" items, so I have no idea as to what that would be like. I have a couple of '31-S's, that came in a "lot" purchase, in fact both of them came that way. They are about EF-40, and worth about $110.00 each. Dick

Absolutely pass on those prices. As I always say, try to find a coin show. I've seen the 31S's for lots, lots less at coin shows. The reason is that back then people hoarded many of them in perfect condition and that is why there are so many 31S coins at low prices in high grades available. Just don't be in a hurry to buy at that price. Also, you did't mention is that is the dealers idea of a grade of are they slabbed and have that grade on the slab. Could also make a difference. F condition could mean a lot of things. Might be Fair, not Fine. Fine also can have many differences pending the dealers idea of Fine. Regardless, pass.

Not slabbed. It's the dealer's evaluation of "Fine." He's a guy I trust, who doesn't overgrade.

quote: "Bid" is dealer buy price & "ask" is dealer sell price?
I found the answer to my question at the Greysheet website: "Bid is the amount that one dealer is willing to pay another dealer to purchase a needed coin; Ask is the price a selling dealer is asking for his coins."
