Just got this coin as a part of a lot. There's damage on it and curiously it's where the Die Cud damage is seen on the certified 1888/7 I've seen. The eighth feather dips and I do see something sticking out of the NW of the last 8. I know it's in horrible shape but could the rim damage be from the die strike? The damage looks old but I'm new to the hobby and any help is appreciated.

Sorry, this is not an Snow-1. For one, the date position is wrong. The '1' is almost touching the bust and I don't see the correct markers of an overdate on the last '8'. There are probably less than 30 known examples of this variety.

Thanks guys for the input, I didn't even consider it until I was looking at the damage and read about the location of the Die Cuds then looking at the eight and feathers. But I didn't look at the spacing of the 1. I'm wondering what's sticking out of the eight?
