For me, country #215 was the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth: P.L.C., 1 schilling, 1666 (my new oldest coin!)
Like that other, more recent hyphenated European country, Austria-Hungary, Polish-Lithuanian coins featured the same ruler but had different designs depending on whether they were Polish or Lithuanian. This one is Lithuanian, as it features the Vytis, the sword-waving knight on horseback who still appears on today's Lithuanian coins. (the Polish eagle enjoys similar longevity)
Anyway, hopefully this gets people interested - doesn't matter if you're not a dedicated world coin collector, if you find a coin from a new country, post it!
These are 3 OFEC countries I have added this week.
1965 French Somalialand 2 Francs.
1975 French Afars & Issas.
2001 Comoro Islands (Or Comoros) 10 Francs.
French Somalialand and French Afars & Issas are both previous names for what is now called Djibouti, which has made me realise that I don't have any coins for Djibouti.
I don't yet have an accurate count of the many countries in my unsorted non-USA mess, but here are a few recent additions from the Dark Continent, where it seems new jurisdictions can arise overnight at the whim of local politics or the barrel of a gun.
