I received my m/c catalog, with a full colour image of the new two coins. The 1/4 ounce is just silver, while the other one, 1/2 ounce, has colouring on the three individuals in the photo (Dad, child, and Mom)
As this was in the mail (post - not Email) today, you would think that anything updated on the internet web-site would also have the actual pictures. I'm sure these 'flyers' were printed a month or so ago. It's ridiculous that they held off the picture so long.

I agree that withholding the images is silly but after seeming them, I understand why they did it. And the colour on the $10 adds nothing IMO. It's based on a B&W photo. Why add, blue, green and purple (or whatever the lady's dress is supposed to be).

I like the colorized coin kind of has that exagerated colorized black & white look to it similar to a Frank Miller film. Ordered it along with the Royal Ontario Museum with the gold sphinx and a couple of gift sets for the Grand-kids at xmas. With this I ensure I receive my free display case for a purchase over $200. Now just need to order a few Heart & Stroke calendars and my Xmas shopping will be done...

While the results may seem a slam-dunk in retrospect, there were some bumps along the way. Officials at the Royal Canadian Mint where skeptical and initially rejected the idea outright. The Mint prefers natural scenes to events and seldom depicts living people like then five-year-old Whitey Bernard, who is now 79, on its general circulation coins. ----Got this from a news site saying that a city councillor wanted a stamp do be dedicated to the famous picture and Canada Post accepted, but when she asked the Mint about a 2$ coin, they said no. ----

The RCM's dedicated WWI / WWII coins catalog is a keeper, IMO it came together with October release catalog.

Quote: looks much better than the silver coins No, problem. And I agree with you, they look better than the silver coins. BTW, Shipping is Free! (the Mint didn't bold it on their webpage, so I bolded it here)

It is an amazing image and it looks great on the toonie. I've ordered my 3 packs. I may buy the $3 coin as well but I'm not interested in the colored one at all.
