Typical AGM.
2013 had 201 releases and 70 sell outs.

Meeting ended. No questions were asked.

It's not even clear who was in the room and there were definitely language issues.

Overall, nothing new to report that wasn't in the annual report release over 6 months ago.

One thing to note for 2015, which I had heard previously, is the time and effort that the Mint will employ regarding the Pan Am games.

It was a not explicitly said during the webcast but I have heard that employees in Ottawa expect to be very busy producing the medals for the Toronto Pan Am games in 2015. It seems likely that they will produce commemorative coins as well so I think we can expect Mint delays in other NCLT production early next year.

I found it a bit odd that the Mint puts so much time into discussing the Numismatic line when it represents such a small potion of their revenue. But, I suppose it's the steak that sizzles and no one would really get excited by refinery, bullion or ETR discussions.

I also laughed when Marc Brule (who is as dynamic every - think paint drying) spoke of collectors and growing the collector base all the while bragging about taking billions of very collectible coins out of circulation. Kind of ironic.

Interesting spin they put on that. They made it sound like a positive metric but 70 out of 201 in 2013 verses 60 some out of 130 some in 2012. To me, that indicates a degree of oversaturation that leads to costly production of unsellable coins and weakens the secondary market. A weak secondary market is not a good sign for the future of collecting.

Ya, I heard that too, the ratio was better in 2012.
I think they should try melting the no sale items... Somebody suggested it on the forum here, that would boost sales for sure. Right now the market is saturated I agree completely.

hmmmm,, I understand the mint does more than just NCLT coins but I am surprised no one asked from the collecting community about reducing prices, or how dropping PM prices could help boost sales and offer value to their customers..

I would have loved to ask some questions. There is big time saturation,,, prices are dropping so hard on coins,,, its not uncommon to find coins slashed 30, 40 50 percent and more from RCM mint;s original release price...

I think this has got to be a demoralizing effect on the community of collectors who seek value, who have a limited budget or budget they are working with,,, as I said before, with these price drops, you can now essentially buy two coins for the price of one....

I dunno, something has to give sooner or later.

I am sure at some point it will, somewhat at least. I have nearly 50,000 hockey cards from the early 1990s , I dont know, maybe its just me but you would think I would have learned my lesson by now lol....hmmm guess not...

I'm just wondering if that's how the decision makers see it.

The hierarchy at the RCM is misguided with their thoughts on ever expanding, useless over used themes, on their NCLT coins. They will only change course when their dealer network is Overstock with unsaleable coins and massive discounting with destroy the hobby. 2014 will be the at least the 3rd year that out of well over 300 or so releases, only 5 or so coins has held value.
