Engraved Morgan Dollar "ruth"

rowdy_rob New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 09/03/2014 9:04 pm My grandmother passed her Morgan dollar down to me which was passed down to her. It is engraved with the name "Ruth" on the face. The engraving had to have been done early on in its existence since the coin was passed down through family. Any idea if this could be referring to babe ruth? or is there any relevance between the name ruth and the Morgan dollar? Thank you, looking forward to hearing your responses! The problem is if it does have something to do with babe ruth, without provenance its worth a silver Morgan dollar. Trust me, I know lol. Just a thought, anyone in your family tree named ruth? Most love tokens have become separated from the families that created them, thus losing their context and story. If yours is still in the family, do your best to ensure that the story is preserved.
