New $100 Bill Error? - Coin Community Forum

amnight Valued Member United States 332 Posts	Posted 09/04/2014 11:20 pm Hi all! I found this $100 bill wanted to know if it is an error or damage? Please look at the pictures and let me know what you think. The paper that should be over the blue ribbon security feature is half on and half off. The left side has been folded back and the right side could be fold-able (also back) so that it shows the underlying blue ribbon. Here are pics and thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

Does anyone know the specifics of the issues that the BEP had with these new 100's that delayed them so long from being introduced into circulation? Was it anything like this? jack jeckel Pillar of the Community United States 5202 Posts	Posted 09/07/2014 11:49 pm I was ready to say no initially due to the easily delamination of the layer which I replicated (but did not invent) when they first came out but the fact that the rip is between the black print and the plain paper had me guessing until I looked at my original photo more and it seems to follow the same break line as yours. Altaira Pillar of the Community Canada 2517 Posts	Posted 09/07/2014 11:54 pm I think it's just the alignment of the note. The intaglio gets printed on the blue strip also. So, if the paper ends before the black print on top, the tear will not affect that part of the black print because it is printed on the blue strip, not the paper. Report this Post to the Staff
