Gave 6 today to buy things and not corners were torn off by the cashiers. My mother has a red 2 with a missing corner, I keep 2 in my wallet that have missing corner on each. Luckily my red 2 has all corners intact.
Guess most people today don't care as long as it isn't coins they have to count.

I actually knew some of these reasons they're considered bad luck. If I recall, gambling at a racetrack ($2 bet) and selling your votes. The third was paying women of a certain, older profession I believe

Never heard any of that before. I'd never sell my vote for just $2. They're worth at least twice that.

Never heard of this. However $50s are considered bad luck in Vegas. I am not superstitious so I like dropping 50s in Vegas. Especially on the craps don't pass line.

I've read where $2 bills are increasingly used at "gentleman's clubs". The thinking there is, is that the customers will hand them back as tips. That certainly doesn't help their public image any.

DCM, Speaking of that, we all know where most of the $4 Stellas have been!

Quote: I've read where $2 bills are increasingly used at "gentleman's clubs". That has been the case here for more than ten years.

The article Jack Jeckel mentions includes a link to a survey. The breakdown of interests in the $2 bill is varied and has contradictions. So it seems the bottom line is the appeal or lack thereof is simple a matter of personal interest and legend.
