We had a surprise 60th birthday party for a close friend yesterday. He really likes $2 bills, so we took all the gift contributions and turned them into 118 deuces. He was very pleased with this unusual gift.

Very interesting idea. Were these random $2s that were easily available or did you look for uncirculated, gift sets, or sequential serial #s ? I'm curious to see more comments form or about anyone who favors $2 bills. I have a friend who strongly dislikes them.

I like them, they are money and still spend and are anti establishment type money because no establishment has a ready place for them, halves, or dollar coins when they are all and have all been money for quite a lot longer than these register manufacturers have even existed.
They say the best gift is money because then the person can get what they want the first time with it and not have to exchange it for something else...but when it is money to a collector, it almost doubles the value! (at least in my eyes. because it has collector value if I keep any, and the rest has face value when I spend it. HUZZAH!)

"strongly disliking" paper money is a bit silly, it still spends, its still $2, and many people are glad to take them. I have a pile of circulated $2 bills and often joke with my wife about going to a fancy restaurant and paying for dinner with them just to see the look on the servers face after receiving 70 $2s!

I agree, it is silly to dislike paper money. I think she has a phobia based on someone's comment about them being unlucky. Now about paying off a fancy restaurant check with $2's ....... sounds like fun. :)

Yesterday, I picked up a large stack of $2 bills, including star notes, Red seals, Sequential SN's, and UNCS......Along with a stack of UNC, CIRC, and Star note silver certificates. Spent around $500.
