Hope someone can help me. While in Mexico last week a friend showed me a "50 peso gold coin". The coins looks like a real 1947 or restrike except that it is too small. It only measures 13-14mm. I understand that the 50 peso gold should measure 30mm. Can anyone tell me what I'm dealing with?

If it is that small it is probably a restrike in a base metal and possibly gold plated. Pictures always help.

BTW, welcome to the forum!

It's not a counterfeit or replica. It's just a novelty to imitate some of the world's popular gold coins in 13mm (somewhere around there). I'm sure it's minted in brass and then plated or at beast, 8kt gold.
