2 sides New Member 18 Posts	Posted 09/15/2014 12:19 pm Hey guys I'm back and would like to share a new pickup that I refused to put back in the dealers case after examination. This particular toner has almost exclusively blue/pink toning on obverse. Would any of you guys like to post a toner to this thread? I would LOVE to see some examples of your nicest toners. You know the ones you guys often stare at. Let's see em!! Because I'm not only the president of the toned club for men but I'm also a client! Report this Post to the Staff

thryan9 Valued Member United States 220 Posts	Posted 09/15/2014 2:05 pm Not a MS, but I like the tone of this one. I couldn't get the camera to pick up all of the colors. I too feel that a beautifully toned coin can be more appealing than no tone at all. I cringe at all of the cleaned coins on ebay. Report this Post to the Staff

colonialjohn Pillar of the Community United States 1757 Posts	Posted 09/15/2014 3:04 pm Most collectors pay premiums for nicely toned coins - just not into Federal that DEEP that I can tell artificial from real original toning assuming you still heve the cartwheel effect ... any other clues ... I should buy a book on this ... original vs. artificial ... I do own about two dozen toned Morgans ... I like this form of accumulation ... I really do ... no joke. sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21786 Posts	Posted 09/15/2014 6:48 pm It seems that toning is at it's best on MS60 and better coins, in it's RAINBOW version. The problem with rainbow toning over the long term is it's delicacy, and therefore visual instability. I have experimentd with acrylic spray used as a sealant, directly onto the surface of rainbow toned '64 Kennedy halves with success. The object of this exercise is to halt the devolvement of rainbow toning into a flat gunmetal apperarance over the long term. The sealant is easily damaged, and therefore the spray sealed coin needs further protection in a tight fitting clear screw capsule. If you wish, to remove the spray sealant is easily removed by a gentle time controlled soaking in acetone. The advancement of toning will then continue. Report this Post to the Staff
