I keep coming back to this one, not really convinced but I'd appreciate your opinion if it might be an RPM...pics are tough with the glare.

The split plating is the start of the problem. What you start seeing is just zinc oxide. That is what happens to a zinc planchet when it starts to rot. It turns into zinc oxide with the oxygen in the air. The area under the mint mark is just part of the rot starting to develop.
