Almost looks fake to me. The coloring looks funny.

This appears to be the rare "Crinkled Die" Variety. Almost GEM MS too. Also an excellent door stopper.

I agree with Yoshi, something seems off about it to me.
Only logical thing to me is he meant to ask for $5.00 and forget to put in the decimal point

It's probably real, (cleaned copper tends to take on this tint of color) but I do like the description of "Crinkled Die" variety that zxcccxz came up with! Quote: Only logical thing to me is he meant to ask for $5.00 and forget to put in the decimal point Could be - but I see he has already received one offer on it and it's still for sale, so doubtful. The RPD or old so-called 1869/8 variety in Late Die State with the die crack through the date, would bring this much in low end mint state condition. I passed on a MS63BN RPD EDS late last year, I am only really interested in them with the die crack.

I should have used an emoticon, because I was being sarcsatic. I have no doubt he is hoping for $500 as I also saw he had received an offer. I really want to know what the offer was for, because if it was anything over $1 he should have taken it!

Gotta love the description: "1869 Two Cent Piece collectors item" Collectors item? In what universe?

I would hope that two offers were for $0.01 and $0.02, respectively.

2 declined offers and one expired.
Hopefully for face value -- including postage

Hopefully for face value -- including postage This thread has almost 700 reads. I'm surprised he's only gotten three offers. I expect better from us.
