Can it be that only a handful of us collect the 5 cent silvers..?.. . ...or is everyone else just very shy..

Thanks viper...Very happy to see these..makes you want to cry at the same time though.. Why didn't they grind an 1901 or something else.. ..and not the 84.. Now where is Zonad when we need his coin and input.. Here's my 84.. If you look at the reverse leaves on both sides near the middle, there is a lot of fine leaf detail although the 84 dies were still used to strike coins well past there normal usage.. when compared to many the other years. Any feedback greatly appreciated here.. I look at the eyelid for flatness which might indicate wear. This eyelid is in near perfect shape. The hair in front and below the ear is often incomplete on many of these fine little silvers. This could be caused by the state of the die or quality of the strike..IMHO . . .

viper and mine are the "near 4" variety and it's well explained in the 2010 Charlton on p.306.
..whereas Dredge and Coin Scavenger's 84's are the "far 4" variety which is explained on p.308.. Great and very tough to find..

What you call "nice"...I will call amazing.. The best of the best ..of the Far 84....Thanks Mike.. Do you have any opinions or ideas as to why the 84's are so tough and often seen as a poor or weak strike..

I believe that it was a late, small rush order and The Royal Mint cared little about coinage for Canada. Tough coins in F12 or better.

Great additions for the 85..!! Here is mine..as explained in the 2010 Charlton p.316 OF5 RF5 ..Wide date with small 5 /small 5 (RP-2) ..and artdio's is the same variety. Let's hopefully see some more.. Love the large date addition in here..and viper's coins do look like there is some repunching in the 8's for sure..and viper's last pics 5 shows something extra there... . . .
