Another Sunday, another monthly jaunt across town.
In recent times the number of dealers has decreased and the number of spectators has shrunk. Still, my 'go to' guys were there. Today's notes:
Brian, a friendly sort who substitutes teaching has this box which often yields a treasure. While his case held no
special find the 'box' had a decent dime which I jotted in my mental notebook for future study.

On to Brad, that jokester! "Hey, I have two dimes for you
which may be of interest." I studied them over and over, comparing them to my own examples. (Yes, I travel with my set.) I moved on telling him that I'd be back.

Played 'Show and Tell' with a dealer of foreign coins. Just my pick-up back in Africa 25+++ years ago: A thoroughly worn Maria Theresa Thaler. Just because I wanted to tell my tale.

On to Vinny, a shrewd character. He travels to the BIG shows and chalks up frequent flyer miles. No, no dimes to be found in HIS box. But he showed me an 1850
Seated dollar: mintage, 7500! AU. Won't ever see another.

Back to Brad. I had him compare his dimes to mine and he confirmed that mine were better. No sale. Also, questioned a coin he sold me a year ago on the question from another dealer that it had been 'whizzed.' "Do you wand a refund?" NO! I want a determination first. The coin looks lovely and I'd hate to part with it.
Brad is a great dealer!
Back to Brian. That 1901 dime looked better than mine. But money is tight. I had some duplicate coins to sell.
Long story short, I got the coin and $95 cash.

Two different dealers mentioned drop in gold and silver has depressed the general coin market. Drat! Just when I was in a selling mood.

All in all, the saying "Kiss a lot of frogs before finding a prince" sums it up: neither on
ebay nor at a show are many gems to be found. Those of you who have worked for years and are still working on a special set no doubt face the same dilemma.
And I am happy that I went, aching body not withstanding.
