Do they allow you to exchange money for coins?

Will they give you circulated coins or "new" ones?

DO you need to be a bank member or have a bank account to do this?

Is their an age limit?

Thanks! :)

Yes, the will give you rolls or coins in exchange for equivalent face value in cash.
They give you rolls of coins, what's inside varies.
No, you do not but it is preferred as they sometimes give you a hard time otherwise.
No there is not.

I am a YN and I go to banks and get boxes of pennies. Since I'm young and do not have bank account, I still can get coins. Sometimes the banks give you boxes that hold all 2014s or hold very circulated coinage. I have been roll searching for about a year and I once got a box of mostly 2014s, but I opened every roll and found a 1952 wheatie in a roll of nothig but brand new coins

Yes, the banks I've used let you exchange money for coins.

They give you whatever coins they have. IME, the bank tellers don't really know or care about the difference between new or circulated coins.

I haven't tried getting coins from a bank where I didn't have an account.

I don't know of any age limit. As a 10 year old (many years ago), I got coins from a bank without an account. As I recall, they were happy to indulge me.

Many factors here.

Different banks, and CUs have different rules.

I do Ikes, which is a tough nut to crack, slow, and spotty on delivery. Need lots of patients and perseverance to get a 1,000 bag of Ikes.

IMHO, in general, the more business you do with any one institution, the better the results might be.

Try to get to the Bank Manager. Get her business card. May you will get her email address.

Go to as many institutions as you can

Good luck

As an Englishman sometimes visiting the USA on holiday, I've often got quarter rolls from banks with no problems, despite not having an account. I've never tried getting penny, nickel or dime rolls. On my last trip to the States I tried several banks in Miami and Key West and none had any halves, but on a previous trip I managed to get several rolls of halves from different banks in Colorado.

As already stated there are different rules at different banks. By me banks will no longer allow bulk coins to be purchased unless you have an account. And too when you bring in bulk coinage, most banks around me no longer have coin counters so they send them out for counting. If you have an account there, they will enter the amount into your account minus a charge for this service. If no account, you would be sent a check and also minus this service and the postage.
If you have a business that requires large amounts of coins, you are supposed to register that info with the banks.
Usually if customers request rolls of coins, a few could be sold but if requesting large amounts, there will be a charge if no business requirements.
You should check with the banks in your area for more info.
