Hi all, Just wanted some thoughts on the fat stubby nine on this dime. Is this a type of variety? Thanks ahead for the wisdom.

Do all 1972 dimes have this same nine? Or are their two types? I have never noticed this before.

Not an expert on dimes, but from what I understand, in 1969 new dies were made incorporating what is called the "Small Date". These were used until 1979 when it was changed again.
So all dimes between 1969 and 1978 would have a "stubby nine".
Please correct me if I'm wrong on this.
Rest in Peace
