VF-25. What's up with the reverse? Strike through? Lamination? PMD?

I will go with VF-20 but to be honest, had I not read your post saying that the CT copper was the only one which got a details grade, I think I might have gone with VF details, environmental damage. The toning on obverse looks kind of dark. Seems like there is a lamination on the reverse and if it is, ANACS might have mentioned on the holder. You've really got some fantastic coins!

VF details from ANACS, probably surface damage or corrosion. Another super sweet key date Paddy! You sure got lucky with the coins you inherited, most people just get a pile of common date wheaties or similar.

Reverse lamination, I should have mentioned that I think it's large enough to also get put on the label.

Have I seen that coin on ebay before? It looks familiar. Planchette issues?

VF20 with Reverse Lamination it is.

I can assure you that this coin was not recently on ebay, it's been in my family since at least the 1950's.

I blame Whitman for the front darkness. When my grandmother was filling her coin folders back in the day she would put Philadelphia Buffalo nickels' obverse showing and mint marked coins reverse side showing so you could see the mint mark.

The odd story associated with this coin is that she never knew she had an over date, nor did I until around 1982. After she died I was putting better date coins in 2x2's, checking them against my 1982 RedBook and noticed the 8 looked funny. Back then I think RedBook had a value of around $200, which I remember being less than my 1877 Indian making it my "3rd best coin".

I know the lamination reduces the value but I'm amazed at how much this issue has appreciated since then.

Graded clean? Whoo Hoo! Nice little coin there! You ca add a zero to your old pricing at lead quite possibly a lot more.
