I was going through a couple stacks of Canadian cents found in US roll searches and I learned a bit about pointed/blunt numbers, hanging numbers and some other cool errors/varieties but unfortunately I came up empty.
I did find this 1999 that had an eye catching ring stamped into it that goes under the beads. The circle has a tiny amount of ridge to it around the top 1.
There's also a couple bits of extra metal on the large 1 and in the mouth of the last 9. Not sure what to make of the area around the nine. Do Canadian cents get zinc rot like lincolns?

Here's some pics, what do you guys see?

Parts of the 9 may be surrounded by zinc rot, although the 9's on the 1999 penny are rife with die chips as well. The upper 1 I would say has a die chip, but I say that because I have a similar 1999 with a chip in the exact same location. The raised is a bit of a puzzle, so I would have to agree with pennyman that it might well be zinc rot. Quite neat how it's in such a smooth arc like that, though.

The smooth arc reflects the differential toning, from another coin sitting on top of that one, for some time...

It may have spent time in a fountain I have noticed a lot of pennies from the late 90s that have spent time under water seem to have those linear plating bubbles. The reason I noticed this is I once purchased a bag of fountain coins just to see what was in it and it contained lots of similar looking pennies.

Thanks for all the thoughts guys. I enjoy everyone's insights as I'm very much a novice still.

pennysaver when you said you have another with a chip on the 1 it reminded me that I could check the coinsandcanada site for pics and I found one with a chunk in the nine like mine. There's actually two but this one is closer to how mine looks.

Sorry my pics aren't better, I have to do a camera through a loupe to get close at all. I can't wait to get a decent photo set up.
