vince1977 Pillar of the Community Netherlands 847 Posts	Posted 09/25/2014 06:39 am Hello All, Ive got this shilling from 1787 in my Collection. It seems that this is the varity with no heart. According to internet this was an error. It aint any more rare then the normal one if I'm correctly. Shame of the scratch close to the face but still an nice looking coin. I don't know if there are more varities of this coin besides the hearts and no hearts in field with Lion? Best wisehs, Vincent Report this Post to the Staff

You might not know that there was a shortage of silver in the UK at the time. Apart from a very rare issue of shillings in 1798 the next coinage of George III was the machine made series of 1816. Which were effectively 'fiat' or token coinage in that the face value of the coins was, unlike previously, greater than the intrinsic value of the metal from which they were made. Interesting times! I've got aswell an sixpence from the same date. It looks like the 7 has some marks which normal 7 does not have. I found that there are 2 varities of the 7 in 1787. I was looking on the internet comparing with other pieces. They have also some small dots on the coin itself. I don't mean the lyrics. I bought them for an decent price.
