We have sold those in the past. I count myself fortunate that we run in a Mint town and my father in law was a former Mint employee. The previous set was a collection of coins representing each of the business units. Bullion, NCLT, circulation coins, and foreign coins. Apparently employees most recently received silver proof sets as a gift.

The only other one I know of is the 2010 employee set. Its a wooden box with plaque that has a 2011 SML, Olympic loonie, 50c Fiji and something else I don't remember.
I had a few of those sets and the 2011 medallion in your first post. My personal collection has matching COA to the same employee. :)
Oh, you did get a COA with the medallion right? It names the employee and has Ian's real signature.
There is also a French version of the COA which is even more rare...

Should edit the employee name off.. lol The 2010 set has SML, Fuji 50c, Olympic Loonie and 2010 Olympic Vancouver (Olympic Flame) coin in a box that has a slot for a plate that states the name of the set. Comes with a letter sized COA folded. Looks like Universal Coin has one listed but no COA http://www.ebay.ca/itm/RARE-ROYAL-C...em51c3a3f598

It's nice to see a taxpayer owned cooporation taking such great care of its employees. I wonder if these gifts have to be declared as income at tax time.

If the value is more than $500 they have to be declared.

Sorry to bring back an old post but other than what is posted here, I'm having a hard time finding information on the coin I was gifted by my grandfather. I have a 2011 Medallion with a french COA (no english at all), signed by Ian. The coin was given to my grandfather some time ago. I am looking to sell the coin and was wondering what would be the best approach (not ebay), or what the value would be? Thank you.

With the RCM onslaught of NCLT coins and an instant loss of half values, a RCM medallion brings very little interest except for bullion value, as an example the September TCNC Sale is full of NCLT offerings that will sell for about half purchase price.

Phoenix XIII Quote: 2011 Medallion with a french COA... I bought one of these silver medals a few years ago for about a hundred dollars. I think there is one on ebay now listed for much more than that. If you live near a coin dealer shop, they may be interested in buying it from you.

PhoenixXIII: Is this the medal to which you are referring? If it is, it's not a "run of the mill" medal -- it does carry a premium in the marketplace. Most of the time when I've seen this medal for sale, it has sold for over $100. So, don't accept "melt value" for it when you go to sell it. As you're likely aware, it was given to RCM employees at the time. As there were a little over 1,000 mint workers at the time, it's likely that the final mintage for the medal was less than 1,500. From the certificate included with the medal: It is an honour to present you with the enclosed 1-ounce fine silver medallion celebrating our success in 2011. We kept focus on our people and attention on our customers. This medallion represents the Mint's four business lines and marks their outstanding achievements as 'Ours to celebrate'.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the senior executive team, I thank you for your hard work and dedication to the Mint and our vision to be the best min in the world.

Thanks for the welcome! Commems, yes, that's exactly what I have! Except as I mentioned mine has the french text but it's the same message. I saw one on ebay for $500...I don't know/think people will be paying that but I'll keep looking and try to find a local vendor.
