I agree, this is an attractive coin (in both versions) and a true commemorative.

I agree with the point you are making. I would also suggest that the term "commems" has unfortunately (and mistakenly) become a generic term for NCLT.
I would suggest that most of the NCLT coins the
RCM is releasing now are not really commemoratives at all - they are just topical coins with various themes: animals (insects, birds, mammals, etc.), trees, landscapes, weather phenomena, etc.
Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.
