Sorry this is not a request to identify the coin but the slab it is sealed in. It does not seem to be a grading company. Has anybody seen this before? Thanks

If I'm correct EDC is mintmark for Dresden Mint but same letters are on Leipzig mint coins.

There are several common slabs sold for protection, not grading. The big difference is where are the finger notches for opening. Need to see the FULL slab and the side views and even then not always possible to ID.

CoinWorld - has a world logo embossed inside front & back
BCW
Everslab - doesn't have notches, but can be reopened if you are very lucky along a tiny ridge all around
Several Chinese versions - one has two notches on the sides, one has a notch top and bottom

etc.

Thanks BStrauss3 / Valdiman.
It's actually an Everslab with notches on the sides and top and bottom but but really no ridge to pry it open. My question is whether QC is a coin certification company and whether they are certifying that this a genuine coin (with serial number)and not a counterfeit or restrike. I have a couple of those and this one below seems to be a rare coin. I can't imagine someone slabbing a fake like this....unless of course to fool somebody.

I managed to pry the coins out and yep I got fooled. They are both underweight (23.8g) and undersized for a thaler of that period.

Anybody can buy hologram stickers with just about anything on them cheap.

Note that just because it's in a slab like this doesn't discount the label. VSS (Variety Slabbing Service) is well respected but doesn't sonically seal their work. You have to look at both the coin and label.
