Any reason for those qualities?

The amount of wear and luster left tell their grade. The term is "grade," not "quality."

Well - they seem better in real life I see now, the quality of the pictures are bad. But I would have expected better grades than AU actually also based on the pictures. If some one would like I could get better high res pictures and send on email, here it was so low on the quality that my picture manager must have compressed the jpgs a lot. never mind - dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/v3zdwmt3...gMbVRia?dl=0

Those dropbox pictures are way too small, to let you know.
However, the coins are AU since the hair above Liberty's ear (on all of them) is slightly worn. If that wasn't the case, you'd have Unc coins.

I have said many times in the past, it is very hard to grade dollars ... Or any coins, from Pictures that get posted here.
Not sure what you paid for these coins, that could have a factor on whether it would be worth it to have them sent in for grading.
As you may know the 1898 O is a common grade, but the 1888 S and the 1894 O are much better coins. Grading companies are more lenient on grading then they use to be. They factor in some rubbing, because it is known many of these coins spent years in bags and rolls. The hair above the ear and the eagles breasts are known areas of weak strikes. IMO ... Other factors need to be looked at before giving a coin a AU grade.
On the 1894 O I would be more concerned with the stain on the obverse and possible area on reverse where it might have been wiped. But again that wiped look might not look the same in hand.

Quote: I have said many times in the past, it is very hard to grade dollars ... Or any coins, from Pictures that get posted here. depends on the quality of the pictures. The pics of these coins are very difficult, I'll agree to that. There is so much washout from the lighting you cannot tell the true grade.

Uh Oh, ANGS slabs....bottom feeder slab company at best these are AU problem free but I suspect that these coins have been tampered with in some way (cleaned polished)
