Hello Coindude,

Hundreds of thousands of BU examples of these dates were released by the GSA (General Services Administration) in the 1970's. You can find many GSA-packaged coins on ebay and most dealers will have a few for sale. Other Carson City Morgan dates were also sold in GSA holders, but their numbers were much lower.

If you're looking for a genuine BU Morgan from the Carson City mint, a GSA coin is a good choice. The '82, '83, and the '84 will be available at the lowest cost.

A lot of them were found when the fed uncovered bags and bags of unc morgans in it's old vaults. Most GSA morgans will be the 82, 83, and 84 cc.

Hey Coindude,

Those particular coins all have mintages over One Million, many of the other CC dollars have much lower mintage figures. The 1890 -CC and 1891- CC dollars also have mintages over one million and similar pricing.
Many of these dates and others were taken straight from uncirculated mint bags to collectors by the GSA, making higher grade examples much easier to obtain.

what has been left out here is in the 70's they found a stocklode of these 3 dates plus others in a bank vault that had never been circulated, they had just been put in the vault and forgotten for close to a 100 years. That is why you find so many in higher grades going for so much less than most other dates in the same grade

Yup, everyone has hit it right on the head. I bet it sucked to be someone who just bought an MS example of it before they were discovered in the vault.
