Here's another one: my PCI-slabbed 1853 gold dollar. I think it's likely that PCI overgraded this coin, but I would still like to get it into a PCGS or NGC slab. How do you all think this would fare as a crossover candidate? By the way, the obverse image shows a blank spot at the center of Liberty's coronet. This is a photo artifact. No such spot actually exists on the coin.

Can't tell you if it was over graded or not. I see no reason why it would not holder. What color is the PCI label and what grade is posted on it?

From the pics I would guess MS58-AU63.

if this is an old green label from PCI chances are pretty good it will cross, I am no expert in gold coinage but I really don't see where they have grossly overgraded the coin by no means

PCI has it as MS64, in a newer gold holder. The biggest problem I see is a hit on Liberty's cheek. I'd be very pleased to get it into a 63 holder at PCGS or NGC. What would you say are the chances?

I'm not an expert at all on these, but when I saw the photo, I was thinking MS62 for some reason. But I see no problem in it getting an 63, either.
