Could one of you guys advise me if the title coins are the same as coins listed as "Colonial Canada Province of New Brunswick half penny token"? Silly question I know but as much as I like these "ship" coins I don't want to end up with a bunch of doubles. Thanks for the help.

Which tokens are you referring to?

Charlton's 8th edition identifies
NB1A 1843 HALF PENNY TOKEN
NB1B 1854 HAPF PENNY CURRENCY
NB2A 1843 ONE PENNY TOKEN
NB2B 1854 ONE PENNY CURRENCY
NB3 McDermott store token
NB4 undated HALF PENNY TOKEN
NB5 undated HALF PENNY TOKEN unique

Doctor Courteau identifies many sub-varieties
of the 1843 and 1854 HALF PENNNY and ONE PENNY
series. Dr. Bird published a work on Dr. Courteau's
variety attributions.

Well, actually it is the 1843 that has got my attention.

Yes, the half penny token and penny token are the same thing as "Colonial Canada Province of New Brunswick half penny tokens".

They where semi regal and not a decimal coin put rather a way to make change for the New Brunswick Pound.

However the Half Penny (no token after that) was a part of the New Brunswick Dollar and a different beast, it however does not have the frigate on it you are after.

Like Colonialtokens said, Dr. Bird wrote a book on the currency of New Brunswick and covered Courteau's variations. As the die broke down and was repaired minor differences to the sail and what not can be seen. If you are just after a "boat coin" for a theme set I would not worry about getting to involved in that.

Exactly the kind of information I was looking for, thank you both.

@Harmonica Yes, I just wanted to make sure I had an example of the frigate for a theme set.

Thanks again for your help.

edit: So nice to have expert advisors willing to help.....
