Check this ebay listing out: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Very-rare-a...em1c463e6d8dThat "ANACS VF-20" looks more like a G-6 to me. I know US TPG's aren't the best at grading, but this much difference shouldn't exist. Usually even with ICG (which IMO is the worst TPG for grading Canadian Coins) only overgrades by 10 points max. Overgraded, yes. I don't know about most overgraded ever, but in hand I can see this perhaps hitting a fine grade...

I have made the mistake in the past of purchasing 2 American dimes (a barber and a mercury) based on blurry far away pics but I had made several purchases from this seller before no problem (with good pics). Total disappointment, melt value only and paid way to much. Lesson learned about purchasing based on crappy blurry pics, lost trust in that seller.

Yes,..and No....you have to remember that some early vicky strikes were very flat to begin with.
Look at the the eye-lid for a starting point. Some good details are still showing. Ex: many 1858 20 cent pieces can initially fool you because of the weak strike to begin with.
The lower obv legend letters are very flat whereas many others are not,..would this be because of the weak strike,?..because I'm sure that it's not wear..
I'm no expert here, but it would be nice to receive comments back from them here..

There was a discussion about this on the french forum and the bottom line is that grading a coin on the sheldon scale is subjective because the Sheldon scale is based on general guidelines for all coins and not for an exact design.
As an example, The Sheldon scale describes VF20 as : Moderate wear on the higher surface features.
When a reference guide describes VF20 to be "braid are clear but not sharp" for a victorian design, it is an interpretation of what is "Moderate wear on the higher surface features" for these victorian coins.

Quote: I'd say VG at best imo Exactly my thoughts. @DEVLEC: Even with a weak strike and the point made about the eye, I see this coin going F-15 MAX. Without the potential strike weakness it's a VG-10 at best.
