Hello! This is my first post here. Very glad to find a message board like this.

I have a question about the importance of box condition. I just got the opportunity to buy one of the new Silver Superman coins, Series 2 the ones that sold out before ever making it on sale to the general public. I was offered the coin at issue price but the box is significantly damaged. I wanted to ask collectors with more experience than me, what impact will this have on the value and sell-ability of the coin?

I can post pictures if it helps.

Thank you for all the help.

-Sean

I may not be the best to answer you as I do not collect 'ready made' collectables. To the people who collect such things the box or holder is often very important. If you bought this to have and to enjoy then it makes little difference. If you bought it with the hope of making money it may limit your profits a bit.

If it helps, I purchased the 2012 reverse eagle proof set marked @ issue price... with no box at all. I'm over the moon.

I agree with Tryna. It sounds as if you want this coin because you are interested in it. If that is the case I say go for it. If you are trying to flip it you will have a little bit of a hard time with resale value as these coins tend to keep value when the box is kept in good shape.
