Nice clear coin and nicely cleaned. While I consider the Byzantine series as quite boring overall, there are a few interesting things about those (apart from getting one of each emperor): 1. quite affordable coins 2. often well dated (allows to fill gaps in my 'year' series) - btw, send me your coin, missing that year 3. sometimes challenging to identify with all those overstrikes 4. quite a range of mints covering some history Guess 'echizento' you are branching out into the Latin Empire, the Empire of Nicaea and related crusader coinage/early arabian as well?

I have no set area of collecting. I collected Roman coins for a long time to the point where they started to bore me. I've collected Byzantine coin also for a long time and have had one or two extremely rare examples. One of which sold for a nicely sum a few years back to a well known author on ancient coins. Over the last year or so I've gotten very interested in the Eastern empires thanks to my good friend Anoob. But mostly when I find a coin that I like and can afford it doesn't matter what empire it's from.

Seems you want to see some other examples of those Byzantine emperors, so here my half-way decent examples. First Sear#640, a "XXXX" follis from Year 7, Constantinople mint off Gamma:

And finally Sear#671, a Follis from Year 3 minted at Theoupolis ('Ancientnoob' should approve of this ): Here the obverse shows Phocas on the left and Leontia on the right.

nice coins ski...especially for 22 bucks! I just posted several byzantine coins in VK's thread, including my favorite coin from the antioch/theopolis mint (with a crazy mint mark). but I didn't post this guy...my only phocas.
